Singing activities linked to better wellbeing

The University of Winchester has carried out a study and found that there is a connection between regular group singing and depression, lonliness, and anxiety in older people.
The review carried out through What Works Centre for Wellbeing  and led by Brunel University London looked at existing research in Canada, the U.K and the U.S.A.
They also found that listening to music can alleviate anger and anxiety in prisoners and young offenders.
professor Norma Dakin said “The evidence surrounding the effects of music and singing on health and wellbeing has been growing steadily for a number of years.
The medical profession are continually finding positive results between music, singing and the mind. Only recently a man in a care home in the U.S.A. found that when helistend to music he could comunicate with people where he would normally sit with no understanding of the world around him.
